CESMAC

The Central Somalia Mine Action Consortium (CESMAC) is a non-profit organization based in Galmudug State, Somalia, with offices in Dhusamareb and other districts. Established in 2014 in response to a proposal by SEMA/UNMAS Somalia, CESMAC works to provide humanitarian demining services, promote peacebuilding, governance, and development, and raise awareness of the dangers posed by landmines and explosive remnants of war in Mudug and Galgudud regions. CESMAC aims to protect communities, particularly children and nomads, and discourage youth from joining insurgent groups or pirates. The organization has successfully cleared landmines, enabling access to humanitarian aid in remote areas, and has been supported by local communities, UNISOM II, administrations, and the Somali diaspora.
